About the RAISE Act

Major AI companies have voluntarily committed to safety plans, but there is currently no requirement that they follow their plans. The RAISE Act ensures accountability by requiring large companies to test for catastrophic risks before releasing powerful systems. When testing reveals potential for severe harm—such as disrupting financial systems, shutting down power grids, or enabling biological weapons—companies add the reasonable safeguards they’ve committed to provide.
